Soapstone Countertops, Kitchen Counters

Soapstone Countertops Denver, also known as Steatite or soaprock, is a natural stone made in its totality of Talc-schist and is a type of metamorphic rock (which means that its form can be changed or molded). It is reasonably soft because of its high talc content and this characteristic makes it feel soapy when touched, hence the name. Steatite is harder than talc and henceforth is suitable for long-lasting surface applications. Soapstone Bathrooms Countertops

Although soapstone is soft, it’s a nonporous material which will dodge the infiltration of liquids through it. Likewise, it has high heat resistant properties and this makes it perfect for the design of countertops, floor tiles, and interior surfacing. This type of stone is so dense that no type of sealant is required at all.  Soapstone can resist acidic materials, and the fact that is chemically inert means that it can’t be harmed by lemon juice or cleaners that must be avoided with other natural stone surfaces such as granite or marble. This is why it’s the most used material in several chemistry labs.

Most American soapstone is sourced from mainly from the Appalachian mountain range or imported from Brazil and Finland. Soapstone in Brazil is known for being the raw material of the famous sculpture “Christ the Redeemer” located in Rio de Janeiro. Unlike granite and marble, however, it’s typically quarried in smaller slabs, meaning that for counters longer than seven feet, several pieces are required.  It’s not as solid as granite or marble, however, can be easily cut, shaped, and installed to fit in the customer necessities.

The architectural applications made of soapstone can last for a very long time without losing its beauty and its elegance, and if it gets a scratch it can be sand out to restore the initial integrity of the stone or it can stay like that and act out as part of the design of the countertop.

Another great characteristic of soapstone is its low maintenance. Due to its nonporous attribute, it is bacteria resistant and does not need intense cleaners, so you will only need soap and water to wash it and make it gleaming just like when you first bought it.

One of many benefits of buying an item made of soapstone is that the client can purchase it with a specific measure in mind, as it can be definitely cut, shaped, and installed to fit in the customer necessities. Soapstone comes in a variety of colors including a wide range of shades of a gray scale with blue or green undertones; some others came with a widespread variation in the quartz fleck and veining patterns. It has a natural beauty which blends in perfectly with older traditional homes but can also fit in with higher-end luxury homes. Every item made of soapstone is long-lasting and won’t lose its attractiveness, and its stylishness. It is not rare to see soapstone stoves and sinks that were made in the 1800s still being used in the present day, as its durability is extraordinary and this makes it a great investment. If it gets a cut or a scratch, it can be sand out to being restored or it can remain in that way and act out as a component of the exclusive design of the countertop.

Its heat resistance makes it a very popular material not only for regular homes but also in science lab tops since its strong enough to stand up to acidic materials..
